Need some help identifying what is “mod” and how to dress mod (modernist)? We will discuss some things to look for when going through vintage clothes to get this particular 1960′s British style. First narrow down selections by color. Usually mod consists of white or black, but can also have some other pops of color like yellow, orange, red, and pink. Mod is also known for clean lines and bold geometric shapes and patterns (think of the movie Austin Powers).
Now lets talk about some of the actual garments associated with mod. There are often mini-skirts and mini-dresses, go-go boots, shift dresses, 3/4 length sleeve shirts/dresses, and a-line dresses. Some accessories that are associated with the mod style are thick headbands, tights, chunky earrings.

Vintage clothing is an awesome addition to any wardrobe, however there are a few things that you should know and need to know before going out and going on a shopping spree. One thing you need to do is make sure you know the size of the garment in comparison to current clothing size. Clothing sizes have changed drastically over time and vary between different countries. Another thing to look for is the quality and wear of the clothing. As vintage has been worn before, you will find that some pieces of clothing have been kept in better condition than others. When you do start your search be open-minded that there usually is just one of each item so you will not have to worry about seeing someone else in the same outfit as you, but it also makes it a little more difficult to look through vintage clothes as there may be volumes of clothes at a particular store. Have fun looking for some new vintage clothing pieces! Just don’t try to wear a whole vintage outfit, work in some new pieces along with the vintage. Here are a few pieces to get you started:

So another Fashion Week has gone by and I have to admit that I was drooling over some of the clothes that walked the runways. Some of the designers that I loved were Tadashi Shoji, Reem Acra, Carolina Herrera, Betsy Johnson, and J. Mendel. Below are some of the gorgeous designs that I absolutely LOVED!

Now there are plenty of shows that I was unable to watch so I am sure there are more clothes, gowns, etc that I would have LOVED but didn’t get to see.
So I know winter is just about over now, but I couldn’t help sharing these cute gloves! They have so many colors that you can match to any outfit. Take a look:

They would definitely come in handy right about now =)
One very popular trend this season, as I am sure you have seen it… a lot, is lace. What is nice about this trend is that is does not have to be too overpowering or you can just simply make a statement with a bold lacy piece. Here are some images to help inspire you and get you into the mood for all things lace:

This spring 2012 is all about the birds! Yep that is right, BIRDS! Something that I am totally excited about, as this is “Word from the Bird.” Swans, hummingbirds, and pheasants. I am sure there are others as well. Check out some of these pics from current fashion:

So we recently had a photo shoot with Dayvid LeMmon! Here is a sneak peak of some of the new stuff to be put up on the site:

There are so many new leggings this year! In all different kinds of colors and patterns. I recently went out over the weekend and wanted to wear a dress. Well it was quite cold over the weekend so my friend let me borrow her tights that she just got. They were animal print ones, which I now absolutely love. They add just enough pop to make your outfit look great! I even saw some today on the Today Show! Check out all of these different tights/leggings you can find out there:
